1. WHY NOW?

There is a big political vacuum in the country. Elections are round the corner. None of the parties is sure of how to face the electorate. And the electorate- specially the poor, rural population, housewives, educated unemployed, hard working kissan and barely surviving labor force- is angry. Very very angry..

To again fool the nation, an air of deep concern for the poor and illiterate, and an action packed drama ( Tamaasha) in the form of  new emotive issues, slogans and political combinations will be created. Or the old ones will be recycled in new packaging. But mostly the whole effort will be to point the accusing finger at others. Mainly because they can not address the substantive issues as they have no intention or ideas for solution.

Before anything else the claimants have to explain how they plan to deliver on their promises, whatever promises, with admittedly less than 15 paise reaching the target, that too after so much delay that damage is already done. Also, again admitted, lack of any mechanism for monitoring results and fixing accountability.
However, very soon VOTERS’ voice will be drowned in their cacophony.

By the end of the elections the Hero ( voter) will have turned in to villain and will be dubbed as the reason behind all failures. Till the next election. Surely this can not be allowed to continue like this. That is if we could.

The question is can we? And, happily, the answer is yes, we most certainly can. If we do it NOW. So, Register as a Voter- NOW.

2. WHY IT WILL WORK?

To tilt the balance decisively in favor of the voter ( and against the politician) the lead has to be taken by educated youth. Indian polity has not ever seen a collective political action by the educated class, especially youth. Mass registration for voting right will bring in a new element, which will force every player to revise his strategy. The present campaign is designed to be simple in which everybody can and should take part easily and we can show our collective political maturity by assuming a posture which will put fear in the mind of the tribe of politicians who are already in disarray. More collectively vociferous we are on this in the media, more effective we will be.

We aim to hijack the political discussion in the media to issues, which concern us lest it focus on tantrums of politicians. By the time politicians come up with a response we will discuss about systemic changes required to ensure prompt and effective delivery mechanism, releasing enormous funds being gobbled up by corruption and ever expanding babudom, removal of poverty, illiteracy, health issues, empowerment etc.  (  Volunteers are needed in every constituency.

2. Who can vote?

All citizens of India who are 18 years of age as on 1st January of the
year for which the electoral roll is prepared are entitled to be registered as a
voter in the constituency where he or she ordinarily resides. Only persons
who are of unsound mind and have been declared so by a competent court or
disqualified due to ‘Corrupt Practices’ or offences relating to elections are not
entitled to be registered in the electoral rolls.

3.2 To exercise your franchise, the first and foremost requirement is that
your name should be in the electoral roll.

Without your name registered in the relevant part for the area where you ordinarily reside in the Assembly Constituency, you will not be allowed to exercise your franchise. Therefore, it is your duty to find out whether your name has been registered or not.

Any eligible person can file claim in Form No. 6 for inclusion of his
name in the roll or raise an objection to somebody’s name or for deletion of
his or any other person's name in Form No. 7. Similarly if any particulars in
the electoral roll are to be modified such as name, house number, middle
name, last name, age, sex, epic number etc. a claim in Form No. 8 can be
filed. In case any elector has changed his house from the polling area of one
booth to other booth in the same Assembly Constituency he can file
application in Form No. 8A for change/transposition from one electoral part to other part.
